Oscars 2010

  1. So the award ceremony finally came and left this morning after several weeks of high anticipation.

List of winners at the 82nd annual Academy Awards:

    - Motion Picture: "The Hurt Locker."
I guess blue people just don't cut it eh? The publicity surrounding Bigelow and Cameron just for this award was crazy hyped up and the WOMAN WINS.
Though, I can't really comment on this because I haven't watched The Hurt Locker *deprived face*
Anybody around here watched it already? Is it thatttt good?
War movies have always seemed well...the same to me.
Like Saving Private Ryan, Across Enemy Lines and all that?

    - Actor: Jeff Bridges, "Crazy Heart."
Didn't watch this either. Dunno who he is. But...erm, yay!

    - Actress: Sandra Bullock, "The Blind Side."
    Thoroughly predicted if not deserved.

    - Supporting Actor: Christoph Waltz, "Inglourious Basterds."
Have this in HDD, will watch.

    - Supporting Actress: Mo'Nique, "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire."

    - Director: Kathryn Bigelow, "The Hurt Locker."

    - Foreign Film: "El Secreto de Sus Ojos," Argentina.

    - Adapted Screenplay: Geoffrey Fletcher, "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire."

    - Original Screenplay: Mark Boal, "The Hurt Locker."
Predicted Up in the Air to win this =(

    - Animated Feature Film: "Up."

    - Art Direction: "Avatar."

    - Cinematography: "Avatar."

    - Sound Mixing: "The Hurt Locker."

    - Sound Editing: "The Hurt Locker."

    - Original Score: "Up," Michael Giacchino.

    - Original Song: "The Weary Kind (Theme From Crazy Heart)" from "Crazy Heart," Ryan Bingham and T Bone Burnett.

    - Costume: "The Young Victoria."

    - Documentary Feature: "The Cove."

    - Documentary (short subject): "Music by Prudence."

    - Film Editing: "The Hurt Locker."

    - Makeup: "Star Trek."

    - Animated Short Film: "Logorama."

    - Live Action Short Film: "The New Tenants."

    - Visual Effects: "Avatar."

And halfway through the list, I realize I've only watched one movie out of all the winners.
    Avatar.
    COMMENTING ON OSCARS FAIL.
But what do you think? And of all the movies, which one do you think is a DIE-ALSO-MUST-WATCH movie?

  2. I really think Sandra Bullock deserved her Oscar! The Blind Side is a MUST watch! i enjoyed every minute of it. I watch avatar in 2D, so i cant say that the visual effects were neither good or bad

  3. I'm just glad that Avatar didn't get the Best Picture award. =D

I really wanna watch Up, the winning short documentary (when I saw the nominees, Music by Prudence really caught my attention and I really felt the chills when I heard the part where they were singing!) and maybe some of the short animated films nominated.

I miss the intro of the show and NPH was performing!! Gonna go find it on youtube now. XD

  8. @Orenzai: DEFINITELY MUST WATCH. Very cincang wan.

@Sam: I was quite displeased that Avatar didn't win more, but I agree that Hurt Locker deserves every award it got. I've only watched the beginning, though - I was at Zakil's place and it was pretty close to the midterms and so I just stayed around long enough to bite my nails to shreds before saying "OKAY GTG NEED TO STUDY"

    Other semi-coherent thougths:

Best makeup for Star Trek?! Err ... wha? Star Trek was a pretty good film okay! For the first time ever non-treekie, ordinary people could understand it.

I wanted Food Inc to win best documentary - it really frightened me and made me think twice about the food I ate - I have it, and I recommend it to anyone who wants to, err, rethink eating Chicken:

ALSO YOU CAN WATCH THE FULL WINNING SHORT ANIMATED FILM, LOGORAMA ONLINE HERE!!!

It's incredibly hilarious. And rather entertaining. (The premise is that everything in the film - everything are logos of companies in the US. It then becomes a subtle commentary on capitalism and today's society).

    Good watch, overall.

Update: Found the opening ceremony with NPH in it; favourite line from his musical: "What would Botox be without YOU?!" (while gesturing at the audience). Also, NPH's got Twitter!
