Welcome to Undergroudsquare, an online community built around good friends and great conversation.
UGS started 4 years ago, in what was a free Invisionboard forum. We were younger, crazier, immature; and most of us were still in school. The idea back then was to have a place where everyone would be able to meet up, online: after school perhaps, or a day out in the sun. Those 4 years were great times for the forum. We had a place to go to online, and we started having these crazy-assed gatherings every time we had the inclination (or the free time - we never had gatherings during exams).
That was four years ago. About 16 months back, UGS died a silent death. The truth of the matter was that we were growing up - the old members had moved on to University, and younger ones reached that special age where the Malaysian Education System thought it proper to let them die an Addmath death. But while the posts in the forums slowed to a trickle, the friendships and the gatherings continued on, though through phone calls now, and face-to-face parties, and MSN.
Today, we're bringing UGS back. And it's back for a couple of reasons: firstly, a huge portion of the older members are leaving Malaysia. This means that our previous arrangement of dead-forum-but-ongoing-gatherings will no longer work, especially not when we've got people in Liverpool and Cambridge and Perth and Singapore. This UGS - version two point oh - is a place for all of us to come back to, regardless of how old we become, or where we end up later in our lives.
The second reason UGS is back is because ... well, I've missed it. And I'm not sure if you miss it as much as I do, but I sure as hell want it back. I want a place to go to when I'm online, a place to meet up and chat with friends, a place I can call my townsquare, on the vast prairie of the world wide web. I've missed it, and I've missed the people that populated the old forum.
The third, and last, reason UGS is back is because it's a pretty damned fun thing to do. And I kid you not - it'll only get more fun as more people come along for the ride.
To the new members, stumbling on this site for the first time: welcome aboard. We hope you'll enjoy the links, pictures and videos we're going to share here, as well as the arguments and discussions we're most likely going to have. We hope you make some good friends.
To the old members: welcome back. It's good to see you again.
