Portraits of Strangers

(10 posts)
  1. Danny Santos shoots in Singapore and has an ongoing project to capture 100 portraits of strangers that he sees on Orchard Road.

    Some of his images:

I had the urge to do something like, sort of like A Portrait A Day kinda project. Not sure whether I'll have the nerve to approach random strangers and ask them for a shot.

  5. @cedric You really have not been getting out much in Singapore. There are lots of hot people around. I use to tell Yung that I see more hot girls walking around in Singapore in a day then my whole life back home (No offense to the girls back home)

  7. It seems there's a lot of diversity in Singapore just like where I live. He's a great photographer huh?

@joashwee Doesn't every artist think of picking up the 'portrait a day' project at least once in their life (I am also guilty of it xD)

  8. Why does he shoot so much more foreigners than locals?

  9. @KC, well if I know Singaporeans, there are rather unfriendly on these kinda things. Guess it easier to get foreigners to let you take their photos.

  10. I suspect he shoots foreigners more than locals because they're more interesting to him. Singaporeans aren't unfriendly - I've gone out street shooting in SG and it's all a matter of how you conduct yourself and your body language (as it should be the case, I suspect, for any country).

That said, the times I've done street in SG have all been with a rangefinder. And so it's easier to not be taken seriously (haha! Old camera! So cute!). This dude uses a DSLR. That may possibly require a bit of polite asking.
